    MODx version 0.9.6.3
Operating system Linux, Kernel Version 2.6.9-67.0.7.ELsmp
    Apache version 2.2.9
    PHP version 5.2.5
    MySQL version 5.0.77-community
Doing install via FireFox 3.0.10 on OSX 10.5.7

    Fails at Connection Information
    OK at first:
Click here to test your server connection and get the available collations
Connection to host: passed - collations now available

    But then:
Click here to create your database or to test the selection of your database
Checking database: failed - could not create database

This is my first time to try MODx, so I’m open to any suggestions. I’ve done similar installs of wikis in the past with no problems, but that was on a different server.

    Thank you.

This kind of error is usually caused by the fact that the database user you have typed into the database page doesn’t have enough permission to ’create’ a database in MYSQL. You can either change the permissions for this user to allow this but better is to create an empty database as the MYSQL root user say and add perms to it as you wish for your chosen MODX user.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

Actually, it turns out to have been my misunderstanding of how an unfamiliar control panel works. Since last night I’ve done two flawless installs and am off to the races. Seems like a really nice framework!
