    Hi all,

I use the wayfinder snippet to create navigation bars on my site www.excito.com. However, with some pages I would need mirrored displays, for example the page "Manuals and other downloads" should be available both under "Products" and under "Support".

I know how to do a redirect but I don’t want that, that would move the user in the hierarchy. Also I naturally don’t want to manage two identical pages.

I hope this request is in the right place, and if not please excuse a noob.

    Thanks,
    /Johannes, Excito

The way I solve this is by creating a weblink to the same page.

Hmm. I tried that but how do I make it not move around in the hierarchy? Is there any smart tricks to do that?

A weblink moves to the menu hierarchy for the new page, try fx http://excito.com/bubba/products/about-bubba.html and click ’manuals and other downloads’.

        Many thanks!

I think you mean that you want multiple pages with identical content. Search engines may not take kindly to it, but if you want to do so you could maintain a primary document and use the getField add-on to copy over the contents into your duplicates. Alternatively, you could use a custom tv and the @DOCUMENT binding to get a copy of the content from the primary document.

PMS, thanks. Correct, that would work, but even better would be if wayfinder could have dual links to the same target document, but I guess that’s not possible.

              Thanks anyway!

Or you could use weblinks for your duplicates.

But that is possible....in MODx everything is possible  wink Depending on how the menu is displayed you can do this with a snippet to see which document is the current parent and output the doc ID’s for WF to use for the parent accordingly. If it is an inline menu then you can embed a snippet at the correct level to trigger a second wayfinder call. Or maybe use the 2.5 version of WF and see if you can get this done with PHx.

Finally if wayfinder can’t do it then you can create a custom menu builder to work exactly how you want. I have built several custom menu setups simply using arrays to store the doc ids (if it is a relatively static menu) or using some api calls to dynamically get the ids for you.

You can also use the sendForward api call to have the exact same page with both URLs...but this is not a good idea since you will end up with duplicate content strikes as far as SEO is concerned.
