I have a number of clients who are converting their existing websites to MODx. As part of the QA process I do a new install for their domain on my server, but would like to have a folder on my company domain "point" to that domain prior to flipping the DNS switch. For example, you could access the new domainA via the URL:
http://mycompany.com/domaina
I have setup a symbolic link in my root that points to the new install directory. My directories are:
[tt]New Install directory: /var/www/vhosts/domainA.com/httpdocs (MODx installed here)
My directory: /var/www/vhosts/mycompany.com/httpdocs (also MODx)
The link: /var/www/vhosts/mycompany.com/httpdocs/domaina (points to the new install)[/tt]
At this point all I get is a blank screen. I have done the following:
- chown’ed the link to my user name (same as the other folders) and gave it full permissions
- added Options +FollowSymLinks in my domain htaccess
- set ReWriteBase /domainA in the new install htaccess
Any ideas on what else needs to happen?
