    Hi,
Maybe there’s an easy way to do this... I can’t seem to find one. If you have a really large site, and very many templates, I think it would be handy to be able to tell which documents use a particular template. That way, if I’m changing a template to make a document look better, I can check and see if I’ve borked any other documents. wink

Is there an easy way to do this? I thought about Document Manager, which can do multiple doc updates, but I don’t think it can get you a list like this. I can certainly have a look at PHPAdmin to figure it out, but that seems a bit like overkill, and there’s no control panel access on some sites I work on. I know, I know. wink

    Thanks!

You could list it with a data grid http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,30600.0/topicseen.html

ManagerManager creates a tab showing what numbers templates uses...

        Great ideas, thanks!!
I get asked to install ManglerMangler a lot, yet I never noticed that part of it.

I also used Datagrid a lot back in the day. On one site I set up a heavily modded version, and the next release of MODx completely broke everything I did in Datagrid, so that site is still using MODx .54321 or so. smiley I had even submitted a couple of patches that Gary put in, if I remember correctly.

Datagrid has a lot of good code in it, but I think it has gone entirely dormant, as I think this was one of Raymond’s apps. Still, I would probably not use it today. It can work great out-of-the-box, but due to the code structure, it’s frightfully difficult to modify, at least with my non-genius PHP skills.

I had had a discussion somewhere in here about Datagrid alternatives, and Jason had suggested looping through db result sets in a snippet and merging each row with a chunk containing placeholders for the fields. This sounds really sensible, and at the same time, more controllable than trying to follow Datagrid’s intricacies, so if I were making a datagrid today, that’s probably what I would do.

        Thanks again!

A lot of the legacy TV output widgets are problematical. I almost always prefer to use a snippet to process and format a TV’s output.
