    Hi,
I’m new to PHP and not so new to ModX.

I have a Shared Linux hosting at Godaddy which seems to be running on CGI.

I want to set the following in my .htaccess file:
    php_flag zlib.output_compression On
    php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5
    php_value auto_prepend_file /performance/begin_gzip.php
    php_value auto_append_file /performance/end_gzip.php

    ExpiresActive On
    ExpiresByType image/gif A2592000
    ExpiresByType image/jpeg A2592000
    ExpiresByType image/png A2592000

However, when I uncomment them, I get a 500 error in Goddady.

Please advice where can I place this code. I resolved the register_globals issue by setting it to off in a php.ini file and placing it under the Manager’s folder.

    Thanks,
    Vishal Shah.

      Hello,

The expires lines should work fine, but the php compression you will need to include in a custom php.ini file. If you comment those lines out the site should work again. I wouldn’t worry about the expires, but just make sure you understand what expires does ahead of time.

        Hi,

When I uncomment the ExpiresActive I get a 500 error. I’m performing these actions to get a good rating from Y!Slow.

Also, can you point me to any code where I can get the Gzip implemented

        Thanks.
