Well I am getting closer. I do not show any files on the left in the tree Do i need to create and new document with all of the coding from the index.php file and save it. Would that have all of the parsing information for the site? Would you be interested in some contract work for a short period? smiley

By all means read Sottwell’s article on how MODx works.

I’m wondering if you ported the site to a new server but didn’t port the contents of the MODx database?  The tree is populated from the database (which also contains all the site’s content).

BTW, the fact that you can log on to the Manager is a good sign.

I appreciate your responses but at this point I cannot figure out why the pages are not showing in the tree. I have no other choice but recreate the site in Dreamweaver so that I can move it and have it visible by Monday. it is going to be a long weekend recreating it from scratch....

yes I have read the many different articles/links. None of them have explained why an existing site that was downloaded from an existing Modx setup on a different host and uploaded to the new database Modx driven is not showing the files that were are currently running on the soon to be terminated host are/will not show in the tree in the new Modx CMS manager tool. if i type in the root path for the index.php file it loads correctly, however I do not see the files in the tree to edit. That is my issue....

Did you dump the entire MODx database from the old site and then import it into the MODx database for the new site using phpMyAdmin (or some other MySQL tool)?

Have you run an upgrade install on the new site?

Have you looked in the modx_site_content table with PhpMyAdmin to see if the content is there?
