Hello.
I am currently developing a website for Bolton FM (A community radio station for Bolton, UK) and I am a complete newbie at MODx. I understand most of the concepts quite well but I’m not sure how to go about these two tasks:
News
One feature of the website will be local news which will be updated by the news team. How would I go about integrating a system like this (in newbie terms)?
Also, would I be able to setup permissions so that the news group can only edit news pages and now have access to the rest of the site?
Blog
We have around 50+ volunteers involved and each are going to have their own page. A good feature of this I’d like to include is a blog for each user (bearing in mind there is well over 50 users). I’d imagine this is similar to the news system, but I need to ensure that nothing conflicts.
Because of the scale of how many users will be using the blog, I’ve considered using a different script (separate from the CMS). Do you think this is the right way to go about it? I also NEED special permissions setting up for this too.
Thanks for your help (& patience)
Curtis
The news part is pretty easy with just NewsPublisher to enter the articles and Ditto to display them.
The blogs are a tougher call. You might be up and running faster with WordPress, but integrating the bloggers with your MODx user list and styling it to look like the rest of the site would be a pain. I’ve never done a blog in MODx so others will give you better information on this.
I wouldnt really need to integrate MODx users with wordpress, but I would like to integrate the content into the site.
I will have to look into Wordpress...
