    Hi there

I’m new to MODX and am in the process of transferring my static website built with dreamweaver into my MODX CMS. My pages are named like this and need to stay the same as I already have inbound links etc into my site: www.mydomainname/my-page-name.php. I have managed to use FURLs with php set as my suffix which has meant I can keep my URLs the same.

However, I’ve noticed that there are now quite a few versions of each URL that are available to be crawled and indexed by the search engines, which means duplicate content issues. I work in SEO and am totally uncomfortable with having duplicate content available for the search engines.

How can I prevent duplicate content issues from happening?

I came across a pluggin called "Strict URLs" but it sounds as if it will not enable me to keep my domains with the php suffix form that they already exist in.

Many thanks in advance for any help or input into this.

    smiley

I’m not an expert per se but how are you finding mutiple urls for each id? With fURLs enables you should only have 2 similar urls: one with www and one without.

Are you using friendly alias paths?

Can you provide an example of your duplicate URLs?

The Strict URLs plugin is definitely what you want. That and a quick .htaccess edit or two will make sure that all of your pages have one and only one URL. What makes you think that a php suffix would be a problem with this (I don’t see anything in the code to indicate that to me)?
