    Hello,

I’m looking for advice on an approach - just want to make sure I’m going about things the correct way. I need the headlines on the page to be outside of the document content, but obviously a specific headline belongs to a specific page (the pages share two main templates). Should I extract all the headlines into chunks and parse them via template variables? It seems like that approach may be a little over the top for what I need to do, but I’m not really sure.

Thanks in advance for any advise!

You could use an existing TV like [*description*] or create a custom one.
Then just add it to the template/s before the [*content*] TV

Is there some reason you don’t want to put the headlines in the Long Title field and display them with [*longtitle*] in the template?

OK, I may be missing what you are trying to do, but have you seen the GetField snippet?
It lets you bring in a field from another document and is really handy for duplicating headlines without actually duplicating the page
Have a look, maybe this is what you are trying to acheive,

@BobRay, yes using [*longtitle*] was what I was looking for. tongue It’s been a couple years since my last MODx integration, I clearly am forgetting some of the basics. Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone!

I’m glad you got it sorted. smiley

FYI, the longtitle, description, and summary (introtext) fields are not used by MODx for anything so you can put whatever you like in them and display them anywhere with the appropriate content tags.
