is there a setting somewhere to have Modx email me when it’s adding a warning to the event_log table?

No setting. Maybe a plugin can do this.
looking through the plugins now... our event log reached 5GB.
The only way I knew there was a problem was we started running out of file space. Would be better if it could at least send an email to tell someone of the problem.

One solution is to have a script to purge the event log from time to time (using a server cron schedule or some other trigger). There is a snippet around that does this but I can’t find it in the search (it is not in the repository).
