    Hi

    I have created a ModX site - on a test server and is now in the middle of making a new installation of the same site on a different server. Everything has actualy gone just fine. From installing, to importing data to the database. I can from PHPMyAdmin, see the imported data in the database. BUT BUT, when I go to the manager or the site on the new server, the data is not showing?? It is only the clean new installation data which is showing!

    The only difference I have done in order to install on the new server is, that I do not make the call from the database: Localhost. Instead I have to call the entire database location which is: mysql.wendt-net.dk:3306

    Does anyone have any idea on why this is, and what to do? Looking forward to all your smart solutions!

    Thank you!

      Have you done an upgrade install on the new server? That will usually fix things. Also, try clearing the Cache in the manager and your browser cache.

      If that doesn’t work, look at the file: manager/includes/config.inc.php and make sure that the DB is pointed at the DB with the imported data. MODx may have created a new, separate DB during the install.

        I Cleared cache in both browser and ModX.

        The Config file also has the right details for the database

        There is only that single database on the domain

        And I did try to make an upgrade install... which gives the same result unfortunately.

        Aby other good ideas? The database has changed it´s name from the one server to the other, and so has username and password....

          Do you see all the content in the modx_site_content table in the DB and do the field contents look correct?

          Is there anything in the MODx error log?

            Yes the field look exactly as in the database on the old server.

            The only error logs - is that I still have the install folder, and that the config file is sat to 777 - I will wait with changing this untill the site is up running. (I might have to install again I asume).

            The only thing I can see could be the problem, is when I imported the data to the database, I did not change the sql file - to have the right database link, and name? Is this what might keep it from showing? And if so how preceisely do I change it back?

            Thank you so much for trying to help me outBobRay - I really appreciate it!

              If you create a document say, can you see it in the site_contents table? even if it doesn’t show in the manager.
                Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

                I am not quiet sure what you mean? I can see it in the database content table, but it is not linked into the manager for some reason. And it is that reason I am trying to figure out.

                  Ok, do you mean your document tree is empty in the manager? If so just go to the tree and create a document, fill its details out and save it, is this visible in the database but not the document tree? If you can log in to the manager, which you obviously can you’re being validated Ok, you could also try deleting a manager user from your restored database directly, then logging in as that user, this should fail. What I’m trying to get at is if you may have two databases here somehow, one MODx is using and the restored one.

                    It looks as if you are right. I just created a test page, and cannot find it in my database. But I wonder, where the other database is at? From my control panel I can only see that single one which i names rallyday_modx - which also is what is stated in the config file which starts as:

                    $database_type = ’mysql’;
                    $database_server = ’mysql.wendt-net.dk:3306’;
                    $database_user = ’*****’;
                    $database_password = *****’;
                    $database_connection_charset = ’latin1’;
                    $database_connection_method = ’SET CHARACTER SET’;
                    $dbase = ’`rallyday_modx`’;
                    $table_prefix = ’modx_’;
                    error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE);

                    But for some reason this is not the database ModX is communicating with - and I can´t seem to find that one....

                      I still however do not need how to find the right database, or rather the database that Modx Uses! Any one who knows how to?
