    This is my first MODX install.

    MODX 0.9.6.3 is on a LAMP environment with php4 mysql3, I’m using FF3 on Vista.

    My template wont show the ’edit content’ button, but if I switch back to the default Minimal template it pops up.

    I looked carefully into the default template markup and comparing to my file, my first impression is that all tags are in place. Clearly, I’m missing something big and would really like some help, please...

      You need to add the # to the placeholder to get the edit buttons to show:

      [*content*] will not show edit link
      [*#content*] will show edit link

        There may be CSS-related issue too with your custom template that makes the buttons disappear.

          Definitely it’s not the missing #, I copied the markup from the Minimal template. I copy the whole thing again, paste my template on top of that and see what happens...

          I can see the Edit link when I turn off all styles, but it links to an empty anchor... ’#’

            To use the HTML method, simply insert custom <quickedit> tags wherever you want the links to be. The tags must be in the format <quickedit:content />. Replace content with the name or ID of the template variable you want to edit.

              I can tell that the Quick edit headers are there, but it wont load the toolbar...

              <!-- Start QuickEdit headers -->
              <script type="text/javascript" src="/mod/manager/media/script/mootools/mootools.js"></script>
              <script type="text/javascript" src="/mod/assets/modules/quick_edit/javascript/QuickEdit.js"></script>

              <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="/mod/assets/modules/quick_edit/styles/toolbar.css" />
              <script type="text/javascript">
               Window.addEvent('load',function() {
                qe = new QuickEdit(2,23,'/mod/manager/','assets/modules/quick_edit',$('QE_Toolbar'));
               });
              </script>
              <!-- End QuickEdit headers -->

              Those html tags did not work for me. Is that <quickedit:content />, as in a single tag?

                Run the site through an html validator. there may be an open tag or something that is messing up the quick edit tags from showing.

                  You’re a genius!!! grin

                  It was indeed missing a HTML tag, nothing big, I should add.

                    You might want to look at upgrading from PHP4 and MySQL 3 to something a little more current, too.
