We’re using foxycart to do our ecommerce and several javascripts are being pulled remotely to generate shipping and tax info for the checkout. The client requested a domain name change, so everything was moved over and a new certificate was purchased for the new domain.

We’re using htaccess to force URLs to rewrite to non-www and that works just fine. However, when the same urls are accessed via https, a 404 error is generated. The homepage diplays correctly though. It appears that the htaccess file is not being read when accessing via https. The problem is that we need to access the JS files (which are generated by custom snippets) to pull securely, http just won’t do.

    Any ideas?

BTW, we had a similar problem with the htaccess file not being read on the standard http, but that ended up being a problem with the encoding that the Mac version of Dreamweaver saved the htaccess file with. Opening the file in BBEdit, converting it to UNIX encoding and resaving fixed that. But that "hack" doesn’t work here.
