    Hi,

I am after getting the table buttons to appear in the editor.
I found this page which tells me what to do:

    http://wiki.moxiecode.com/index.php/TinyMCE:Plugins/table

and it seems I need to add the line:
    theme_advanced_buttons3_add : "tablecontrols",

but I am not sure where to add it.
If I look at tinymce raw php I cannot see an area where it should fit, and I cannot find the config.php file to see if I can add it in there.

    I am using version 3.2.0.1

    Thanks,
    Simon.

Have you explored the TinyMCE settings in Tools > Configuration > Interface & Features? I get a table button in the Manager using Content Editor as the theme. There are also slots to set up custom buttons, which I haven’t tried.
You might find the following thread instructive: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,30013.0.html, dealing with the configuration tab for the plugin, where you can set up the look of TinyMCE on web pages.
      And a wiki article: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/TinyMCE#Plugin_Configuration
These screens may be less than intuitive, but they beat trying to edit the config files themselves, and changes will survive updates to the plugin itself.

Thank you, I thought there might be a page to do config on rather than having to edit a file.

I am using Content Editor as the theme but dont have table buttons. I have tried changing it to advanced but that just seems to move the tool bar from the top to the bottom.
I have tried adding tables manual to Content Editor:

I added ,tables to the custom plugins line and also added ,tablecontrols to the Custom buttons line but still get nothing.

        cheers,
        Simon.

Try using table instead of tables in the Custom plugins field and set the Theme to Custom.

            I have just tried.
Once I have saved and have gone back to a page, I now have no controls and only see the raw html rather than the formatted page.

            thanks.

I’ve got the table features as part of the right click context menu, not as buttons, by doing what bob1000 suggested.
