    Hi please help,
I’m looking for the best way to create

photo galleries of real estate properties and have them
    search-able with variables such as:

    Location, price, number of bedrooms,
    garden(yes/no), garage(yes/no) etc.

any links & resources much appreciated

You’ll probably want to use MaxiGallery for the images, Ditto to display the listings, TVs on each item to provide the extra data, and most likely phx to help Ditto filter using the TVs.

Here’s a link to a discussion and implementation of something similar, including a live example

            I’ve designed a few property websites...here’s one:

            http://www.rent2ownhomesonline.com

and here’s a Property Management website I built...this link takes you to a template site that the manager duplicates when sets up his clients on the this site:

Just primarily used Ditto ... as far as search-ability goes, yeh PHx with Ditto should work.

            Here’s another with similar functionality:

Yeh, MODx takes some learning at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes such an amazingly powerful and 100% flexible system. It’s only limited by your imagination.
