    Hi all,

I am running the latest version of Modx 0.9.6.3 and I am using the QuickEdit toolbar to modify an image TV.

If I select the TV, the resource browser appears correctly showing the thumbnail icons of the images in the ’assets/images’ folder.

Beneath each image are three icons - Delete File, Rename File, Edit Image.

If I click on the ’Edit Image’ icon, the ’Image Editor’ loads and then I have two problems.

Firstly, as per the attached screen picture, the image is not correctly displayed. Instead a grey square is displayed with an icon in the top left corner of the
screen that looks like a torn piece of paper. I did notice from the address bar that the URL is shown as:

    [tt]http://localhost/tomkealy_modx/manager/media/ImageEditor/editor.php?img=/images/banner.jpg[/tt]

If I right click on the incorrectly displayed image and select properties, the image location is quoted as:

    [tt]http://localhost/tomkealy_modx/manager/media/ImageEditor/assets/images/banner.jpg[/tt]

I am by no means an expert here but it does look like the Image Editor is looking for the images in the wrong location. The images are
actually in the http://localhost/tomkealy_modx/assets/images folder. Is this the reason I have a problem?

Secondly, although it looks like a blank image has loaded, I noticed that the window size is too small and you have to drap the window size
out to view the scrollbars surrounding the image and then use these to view the whole image. Is this correct?

Has anyone got the Image Editor working and can they help - paid support or otherwise!

    Look forward to some help.

    Alan.

I can’t believe I am the only one who has experienced or is experiencing this problem?

Surely someone knows the cause - what about the Modx team?

Stuck with this and cannot move on until I resolve this issue.

Happy to pay for help - someone?

      Regards,

      Alan Wyatt-Jones.

I’ve never used the image editor within MODx itself to be honest so unfortunately can’t offer assistance. I think you’ve definitely identified a path issue however.

I believe Ryan is talking about Resource path and Resource URL. Check’em out.
If it goes live, remember to change it again according to the live-state.

This is absolutely an issue of Resource Path being not correct. MODx can typically determine this at install but on some servers it cannot and also if you move servers at some point you will need to correct this path for the image editor to work correctly.

To correct this setting you can go to Tools>Configure: Interface and Features : Resource Path.

This will be the full path to your assets folder.

@ganeshXL I agree. The resource browser’s photo editor isn’t perfect, both from a UI point of view and output quality BUT there are circumstances where it can be handy for quick crops where automation is not desirable and edits are infrequent.

                Hi all,

Many thanks for all your kind replies. The issue was indeed related to the Resource Path and once corrected to the full server URL path, the editor began working.

Based on the opinions of the editor in some of the posts, are there any intentions of integrating a better editor into Modx?

I feel this is one area where such a facility would really set Modx ahead of the competition.

                Regards,

I’m running evo 1.0.4 with tinymce 3.3.5.1, and having the same issues with the image editor not showing the image. However in evo 1.0.4 there appears to be no Resource Path setting in Tools->Configuration, so the solution posted here obviously does not work. Anyone know the problem/solution here?

This is not true my friend. In config look for:
"File Browser URL" - i’ll bet it says assets/
                    It should read: http://www.myurl.com/assets/
Problem is that as its not absolute its just taken from the /manager/ resulting in fail.

This makes the image editor work fine (it’s great for little edits and should be promoted more!!!)
