    Hi,
I do understand the concept for the ’container ’ that you can assign to a document but what i want is slightly different. here is my basic structure

    [tt]page1
    page2
    ---page2.1
    ---page2.2
    page 3[/tt]

i want a template that can generate a submenu (with wayfinder) on page2, page2.1 and page 2.2 that is identical on each page.
AND does not have the expected hierachial indentation. like this

    [tt]SUBMENU
    - page2
    - page2.1
    - page2.2[/tt]

In fact this would mean the structure is actualy.

    [tt]page1
    FOLDER2
    -- page2
    -- page2.1
    -- page2.2
    page3[/tt]

So when the user clicks on the FOLDER2 Button, page2 has to show with the submenu like this
    [tt]SUBMENU
    - page2
    - page2.1
    - page2.2[/tt]

how can i do this? i would assume this is basic interaction design so i can’t imagine its impossible. but i really can’t figure out how to do this.

    anyone

      Hi rdaneeel,

I’m sure that there are many ways to resolve your issue (which others can also offer), however I would consider using the a partent ID tag within the Wayfinder to show the sub menu.

      [!Wayfinder? &startID=`[*parent*]`!]

      Hope this helps smiley

        Hi,

I’m afraid thats not what i aimed for. the solution you give results in generating the right menu on page2.1 and page2.2
But not on page 2 here it generates
        [tt]page1
        page2
        ---page2.1
        ---page2.2
        page 3[/tt]

the only way i see now to create what i want is to move the contents of page2 to a new page2.0
then make a weblink to /index.php?id=8 (page2.0) and and set ’show in menu’ to 0 for page2.0
since there is no easy way to create a weblink to a page in the CMS i have to copy and paste the URL!! quite cumbersome and for my client not an option off course.
        so here a FEATURE REQUEST:
create e feature called ’CMSlink’. same as WEBlink but then to a page in the CMS.

Modx can create a document that is also a folder. But in essence i want a folder that has no document just a link to a document.
a similar topic was discussed on http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,7721.0.html but ingored i guess

        or i’m i mistaken?

This already exists. A web link can be to a remote web page or to any document in the MODx site. You can simply place the document ID in the place for the link.

To do what you are after you can use a weblink, but you can also simply place the FirstChildRedirect snippet in the content filed of the ’folder’ document to automatically jump tot he first child. This is part of the default install snippet set so it may be installed already.
