500 error with FURLS [solved]

On localhost with XAMPP, I’ve absolutely been unable to get FURLS to work.

I get a 500 error even with an .htaccess file that only has a single line in it:

It happens in both Revo and 0.9.6 for all sites on localhost although I’ve had FURLS working in the past (I think on the same version of XAMPP).

I’m not sure where to look next.

Apache 2.2.9
PHP 5.2.6
MySQL 5.0.67

As I can recall, the mod_rewrite is not activated with the default setting of XAMPP.
You have to activate it manually.

See http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,3642.msg26418.html#msg26418 or search for ’XAMPP mod_rewrite AllowOverride’

Basically, make sure the mod_rewrite module is loaded and that the AllowOverride directive in Apache gives you enough permission to even place an .htaccess in the directory.

On the nose. It never occurred to me that mod_rewrite wouldn’t be loaded in the default config of XAMPP.

Thanks!!
