I have a MODx site set up in a shared hosting environment with EasySpace (PHP5, MySQL). It works fine, but every time I log in to the manager, I have to re-enter my username/password about 4 or 5 times before it lets me in. It’s almost like I have to log in once for each frame in the manager.

I have searched and read the forums and I can’t find a solution. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it Sessions not being handled properly by my host? Do you have any suggestions? I’m not a programmer, so don’t know the best way of trouble-shooting this issue...

My PHP Sessions info is as follows, if that’s any use:

    Session Support enabled
Registered save handlers files user memcache
Registered serializer handlers php php_binary wddx

    Directive	Local Value	Master Value
    session.auto_start	Off	Off
    session.bug_compat_42	Off	Off
    session.bug_compat_warn	On	On
    session.cache_expire	180	180
    session.cache_limiter	nocache	nocache
    session.cookie_domain	no value	no value
    session.cookie_lifetime	0	0
    session.cookie_path	/	/
    session.cookie_secure	Off	Off
    session.entropy_file	no value	no value
    session.entropy_length	0	0
    session.gc_divisor	1000	1000
    session.gc_maxlifetime	1440	1440
    session.gc_probability	1	1
    session.hash_bits_per_character	5	5
    session.hash_function	0	0
    session.name	SN4933ec0439d12	PHPSESSID
    session.referer_check	no value	no value
    session.save_handler	files	files
    session.save_path	no value	/var/lib/php/session
    session.serialize_handler	php	php
    session.use_cookies	On	On
    session.use_only_cookies	Off	Off
    session.use_trans_sid	0	0
Learning a little more each day.

The issue is the 1440 value for session.max_gc_lifetime. This means that after 1440 seconds, you have a 1 in 1000 chance of having your session garbage collected by the server every time someone else accesses any PHP page on your server. The custom session handling coming in Revolution will solve this issue, otherwise, you’ll need to modify the settings in your PHP configuration wherever you can (depends on your environment on where/how you can customize this).

Jason, We are having the same exact issue on The RackSpace Cloud hosting platform called Mosso. We have two sites running on the cloud that are fine one is 0.9.6.2 and one is 0.9.6.3. Any additional sites that we try to install on the cloud hosting has this issue of not being able to be logged into the manager.

        I don’t understand your explanation.
