Hi there,
I have a site running with custom wayfinder, templates, snippets and a lot of content etc. I wish to transfer the site to a new server. Is there an easy way to do this? I really don’t want to do it all over again.
The old ModX version is 0.9.6.1 by the way. Should the new instans on the new server be the same version or can I use the newest version?
Thanks.

1. For new hosting server - make sure:
http://modxcms.com/learn/general-requirements.html
2. @ old server: Take backup*, Upgrade modx**, work with new snippets (parameters), take backup.
3. @ new server: Import database, transfer files (+install folder) make your config file writeable and run installer. Then delete
install folder and change back config file permission to only read.
----------------------------------------
*) Clear modx manager cache and then backup your files + PHPMyAdmin (Or ***) - dump database (.sql)

Did you edit your config file manually?
Hi again,
I have done as described. However I get a failure when I try to preview the site. The Failure message is:
« MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:

Do you know what is causing the failure? I really need some help with this...
Thanks.

I would think something got wrong when you exported/imported the database!?
Can you use shell commands?

Maybe try backupmodx module?
