Just returned to this thread after a while...
Thanks for the responses, lots of food for though there.
I am looking at a cart in modx. I am building the products out of documents, with added TVs for extra details.
I am thinking I will use documents for categories too, and a @SELECT from the pagecontent table to populate a TV multi select dropdown. This means that the user can add a category just by adding a document to the right part of the tree.
One think I am struggling with is how to have a product that is a group of other products. For example, lets say I have 100 products, and "packs" that consist of a number of these products, but are sold as a single item. I still want to show the contents of the pack and drill down to the underlying products - but this bit is "easy". The problem I have is allowing the user to define the packs using vanilla MODx. Right now I have a TV that is a checkbox that populates itself with an @SELECT from the product documents. But as the number of documents grows, this list will become huge on the document editing screen.
Any tips on how to go about doing this?
The other tricky bit is getting the flexible pricing and discount schemes sorted out that other shopping carts have. Being presented with different pricing based on webuser group for example? Or having a promotion price that runs for a period of time.
Has anyone implemented these types of things in modx shopping carts?
