    My client has reported a some strange behavior in IE7. This problem does not occur in FF, Safari or even in IE6 (strange).

    Some images on his pages display only part of the image. On this page, the image of the ship does not fully display (see attached image). They also reported the image of the sleigh does not fully display, however I can’t recreate that example. This site has lots of images but only a couple behave this way.

    I’ve also noticed when I look at the source, that the various image tags use different type of paths to the files. As I look over the page, other images on the site have either type--most of which display correctly.

    My client uses TinyMCE to create all these pages and use the insert/edit image dialogue to add the images. How does these two different paths come be? Is this even related to the display problem?

    Any ideas?

      I got this kind of behavior once, but it was for images used in the CSS background property.
      The issue was that the path was not relative to where the CSS stylesheet was.

      Not directly related to your problem but maybe it is something in the paths...

        I experimented on a local copy, removing content around the picture element by element, and, weirdly enough, the picture of the ship was restored to full display when I removed the <em> tag around ’Pasenger ship arrivals...’. huh

          It turns out there is a known IE7 (only) bug that occurs in some specific situations. One of them involves use of <em> (and few other inline tags) next to a floated element.

          There is no real fix, but there are a couple of work arounds. Removing the <em> tag is one. Another for my situation is to add this to the style sheet.
          em {zoom: 100%; overflow: hidden;}

          This greatly reduced the occurrence of this bizarre bug, but not completely. Resizing the browser window will still cause the bug to come and go, but much less frequently.

          I think this will suffice for now.

          Keith it looks like you were on the right track.

          It seems the path was completely unrelated to this behavior. I’m still curious about that question however.
