Hello, I have recently migrated my modx site from one server to another. I did this by dumping the database with mysqldump and tar/untarring the content within my httpdocs folder from the old server onto the new server.

My main website shows up fine, but all of the links show up as names (contact_us.html) instead of index.php?id=13 When I click the link I get shows a generic Apache "404 Not Found" page. When I manually type in the address www.com/index.php?id=13 I see the actual "Contact Us" page. This happens with all of my links.

I’ve looked on the old server and there is no contact_us.html page anywhere to be found, so I’m sure that I’ve copied everything over properly but there is a problem in the database or something else that is causing all the links to be displayed incorrectly. After logging into the Manager everything also looks fine in there as well.

I have a different ModX installation on the same new server, and it is working correctly, though it is probably a different, newer version.

If anyone could provide any insight into this that would be much appreciated!

    Thanks.

First off check you configeration settings as it sounds like you have friendly url activated.

If it’s not activated save the settings anyway then clear the site cache and refresh the page "CTRL + F5"

        Hello,

Thanks for the information. Friendly URL’s was set to Yes so I changed it to No. After clicking Save I cleared the cache by clicking Site > Clear Cache.

The link is still the same (contact_us.html) and manually putting the link in (index.php?id=16) works just the same as before. I can tell no difference between turning friendly url’s on or off. I used lynx to be sure I wasn’t accessing a copy of my local cache in Firefox, but it still shows up the same, still 404’d on the links.

Can you think of any other possible solutions? Thanks for your quick response!

I’m testing using lynx since it has no cache.

            Any other ideas?

Honestly, I can’t think of any way that turning FURLs off could have no effect other than corrupted files in the install, someone changing the core code, or pilot error (e.g. editing the old site thinking you’re editing the new site).

Check the system_settings table in the DB to see if friendly_urls is really set to 0.

After that, I would probably do an upgrade install of the new site, watching closely to make sure the DB name is correct and all paths point to the new site.
