Hello guys. I’m new to MODx so my question may sound little bit newbish to you.

I’m creating website for basketball team. I want to include adding results, external links (external link with title to coverage on other websites), photogallery and videogallery. Question here is: what method/snippet/chunk/module/whatever should I use?

    Thanks for every advice.

Try going step by step what you are trying to achieve...

For your picture gallery, you will use a sippet called MaxiGallery

As with anything in MODx the method will be dictated by the desired results. For example game results; will this be a simple data table or will there me additional information for each game (photos, game review, comments, links). You could use a custom data grid for the score results, but if there is additional data you could use a MODx document for each game and TVs (custom data fields) for the individual data.

In general it is not a bad idea to think f MODx documents as data storage as well as pages and external links. You could also add RSS readers to ring news from other sources to your site.

For making a module to fill the data table, i need to do some special coding??
or is there something similar allready available???

There is no general purpose data module at the moment. It would be a good one to have. Sottwell has a tutorial on her site for building a data table module: http://sottwell.com/create-module.html the tutorial itself is not the application you want but it can give you some ideas.

How many games in a seasson? Is the site for one team or for a league? If it is for one team you can make a document for each game. MODx documents are basically data entries. You can leave them unpublished and they can still be reached programmatically or with Ditto (or some other snippet).

The real key is whether you’ll want to aggregate stats over the season. If all you want is a report on each game, it’s relatively simple. Just design a page that displays that information and fill it in after each game. But if you want to have stuff like each player’s point total for the season so far, or the team’s average points per game, you’ll need to design and implement a database strategy.
