Can I add user interaction in MODx?

Hi

I’m making a site where users rate/review things. I’d like the users to be able to interact with each other, ie - add friends, share reviews, comment on each others page - kinda like facebook but on a smaller scale. is there any modules/snippets or anything that would give this functionality?

I don’t think there is anything that will handle this out-of-the-box. I know that WebloginPE has a number of user based functions but not to the level you describe (I think, social sites have not been my strong point, hopefully some one else will chime in).

There are rating add-ons (RateAnything, StarRating) and you could use Jot to add comments on any page. But not sure about the social functions. There have been a number of sites that use social features, like gaming sites, built in MODx so it can be done.

What if a webuser would be in charge over it’s own webgroup and others could join it...
Then the members of this webgroup was allowed to post messages etc.
Maybe copy/paste some code...

elgg looks very cool (although the similarity of the logo to the IE ’e’ is scary). Can this be integrated into a MODx site? It seems to be API based which should make it integratable.

Elgg has made some nice progress with 1.x but it’s still not a dream to template... it takes a bit of work ! Drupal can also be an alternative, especially the Organic Groups module but there are quite a bunch of social network / community modules around to build nice communities. This being said, Drupal is no cakewalk either templating wise...

Now if someone comes up with a Elgg - modx combo, it could prove interresting
