I am building an intranet site that needs a phone directory for all the company’s staff.
Each staff record will include: photo, first name, last name, phone number, email address and department name.
Some staff may be in multiple departments.
The directory needs to be searchable by any of those fields.
I guess it would work in a similar way to the MODx resource repository with:
- a first name A-Z listing (all the first names starting with A on the one page etc - with full contact details shown for each staff member),
- a last name A-Z listing (all the last names starting with A on the one page etc - with full contact details shown for each staff member),
- an alphabetical department listing with staff members listed alphabetically on the one page (with full contact details shown for each staff member) ,
- plus typing Adam for example in the search box would bring up all the Adam’s on the one page (listed alphabetically by surname with full contact details shown for each Adam).
I’m not sure which MODx tools I should use to implement this (eg Ditto, Ajax search etc).
I am also unsure as to how I would store the staff records - as individual chunks (could get messy as there are about 300 staff)? in a seperate csv file (in which case how would I do that)? some other way?
Any suggestions as to how I can achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
