    Hi,

I’ve been following the development of ModX for some time and have recently installed a copy. So far it seems to operate as one would wish except for one aspect within the Manager area. Specifically, when in Tools / Configuration. Any attempt to Save the current state causes ModX to clean up / refresh BUT, it
moves away from the area being edited! undecided

    Why is this?

Surely it is possible to capture the application state, location and retain that after a refresh?

Actually it seems to do this no matter what section of the Manager you Save current state.

If this has already been addressed I apologise but I could not find an answer elsewhere. wink

    Cheers

I know what you are talking about, I just peaked at the code and it seems to be related to the "wait" page that loads after an action occurs. You would need to edit this file to make it ’smarter’ and maintain the current location when appropriate (and maybe add an alert message like "your data has been saved" at the top of the page).

          Thanks for your reply.

How hard would it be to Ajax-iffy the backend where this is concerned?
Or to implement something similar to ASP.Net’s postback feature?

Just curious as Ajax now seems a standard expectation updates to data are required without interrupting user experience.

Whilst not strictly a coder, although I know CSS / XHTML fluently, PHP is relatively new to me and so at this present time i do not have the skills necessary for such a change to the core.

          Has anyone addressed this already?
Is it something worth mentioning in another forum?

          Cheers,

Good points. At least with snippet editing you have the option to  check "continue editing" and stay in place. There’s also a plan for MODx Revolution that would let you clear the site cache without losing your place.  -- Steps in the right direction.  smiley
