    Hi,

I need some pointers on how to debug friendly urls.
They work very well on the staging site but not on the live website which is on a different server.

It is the first time it happens to me and I think this is a server issue.
When I enable FURL I get

    "Not Found
The requested URL /about-us was not found on this server."

    Thank You

First, make sure of the spelling of the directories - on the live website, they are case-sensitive but probably not on the local server.

If that’s not it, the next place to look is in the .htaccess file in the site root. Check the rewrite base setting.

        what directories?
        Are you talking about aliases?

Sorry -- too little sleep. I was thinking of included files which is probably unrelated to your problem.

Check the rewrite base and FURL rewrite rules in .htaccess.

Not sure if this helps but here’s what I can tell you:

            in ssh:
            pwd: /home/clients/mysite.com
            ls: cgi-bin htdocs

Htdocs is the container of the website

the .htaccess should be the default one from 0.9.6.3

            RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*internal\ dummy\ connection.*$ [NC]
            RewriteRule .* - [F,L]
            +
            RewriteEngine On
            RewriteBase /
            +
            RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
            RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
            RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

            That’s all there is.

in httpd I have the following
            LoadModule imap_module libexec/mod_imap.so
            LoadModule action_module libexec/mod_actions.so
            LoadModule userdir_module libexec/mod_userdir.so
            LoadModule alias_module libexec/mod_alias.so
            LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/mod_rewrite.so
            LoadModule access_module libexec/mod_access.so
            LoadModule auth_module libexec/mod_auth.so
            LoadModule proxy_module libexec/libproxy.so
            LoadModule usertrack_module libexec/mod_usertrack.so
            LoadModule setenvif_module libexec/mod_setenvif.so
            <IfDefine SSL>
            LoadModule ssl_module libexec/libssl.so
            </IfDefine>
            LoadModule php5_module libexec/libphp5.so

            ClearModuleList
            AddModule mod_env.c
            AddModule mod_log_config.c
            AddModule mod_mime.c
            AddModule mod_negotiation.c
            AddModule mod_status.c
            AddModule mod_include.c
            AddModule mod_autoindex.c
            AddModule mod_dir.c
            AddModule mod_cgi.c
            AddModule mod_asis.c
            AddModule mod_imap.c
            AddModule mod_actions.c
            AddModule mod_userdir.c
            AddModule mod_alias.c
            AddModule mod_rewrite.c
            AddModule mod_access.c
            AddModule mod_auth.c
            AddModule mod_proxy.c
            AddModule mod_usertrack.c
            AddModule mod_so.c
            AddModule mod_setenvif.c
            <IfDefine SSL>
            AddModule mod_ssl.c
            </IfDefine>
            AddModule mod_php5.c

Is it possible that some of the modules interfere with my .htaccess?

            Thx

Not sure if this helps but here’s what I can tell you:

              in ssh:
              pwd: /home/clients/mysite.com
              ls: cgi-bin  htdocs

Htdocs is the container of the website

the .htaccess should be the default one from 0.9.6.3

              RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*internal\ dummy\ connection.*$ [NC]
              RewriteRule .* - [F,L]
              +
              RewriteEngine On
              RewriteBase /
              +
              RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
              RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
              RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

Try changing the last rewrite rule to:

              RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /clients/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

              or

              RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /home/clients/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

Is it possible that some of the modules interfere with my .htaccess?

              That’s very unlikely.

If the above suggestion doesn’t work, there’s a whole monster thread on getting FURLs to work here:
              http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,4700.0.html

Try posting your question there (after trying anything in the thread that might work, of course).
