When I try to login to the manager of my site I get this:
"Due to too many failed logins, you have been blocked!"
I enabeled captcha to block spam from comments on my site and now when I enter in the correct username, password and captcha, I cant get in. Someone please help!
Faithfully using MODx since 2007!
you will need to edit the database to turn off the usecaptcha parameter (set to 0). I had this happen as well, it is a nightmare.
UPDATE modx_system_settings SET setting_value='0' WHERE setting_name='use_captcha' LIMIT 1;

Even easier: Edit the assets/cache/sitecache.idx.php file.
Change
to
Be sure to go to Tools | Configuration and turn off captcha as soon as you get in!
None of this will work until an hour after you got blocked unless you go in the DB and edit your record in the user_attributes table and set blocked, blockeduntil, and blockedafter to 0.
BTW, if you saw the captcha image and entered it correctly, it’s very unusual not to get in. It suggests that something’s wrong with session variable saving, which is what the captcha authentication depends on.

I put up some info on this in the Wiki:
http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/CAPTCHA
The safest way to test whether or not enabling it will work is to login and enable it in one browser, then try logging in via another browser. If it doesn’t work correctly, you can disable it in the first browser.
Nice addition. You might want to add my tip just above about editing the assets/cache/sitecache.idx.php file for those not comfortable with modifying their DBs.
Also, in Revolution, the Captcha plugin gives you the option of using a simple math equation in the Captcha image to be solved to prove you’re human. It’s enabled by a System Setting (captcha_use_mathstring).
