    Hey all,

I am 3 days new to MODx and like what I see as far as possibilities. This is my first experience with a non-custom CMS and am excited.

Here is my setup. We currently have a full website running on mydomain.com. My newsite that I am building using MODx will run at subdomain.mydomain.com. Our main site uses a custom built (read: trash) CMS. When I turn on friendly URLs they display properly such as subdomain.mydomain.com/pagetitle.html. However if I enter the address subdomain.mydomain.com/pagetitle.html in my browser it will say page not found. I am sure someone will say change my .htaccess file from ht.access and I have done that but no results. Do I need to add information to the text file?

    Thanks,
    JIW

What type of server is your website hosted on?

For friendly URL’s on a windows IIS server you would need to utilise ISAPI Rewrite via a .htaccess file and if you are on a linux apache server this should come with mod rewrite and you would just need to rename the ht.access file which came with the modx setup to .htaccess

The server is running apachie, but when I change that ht.access to .htaccess and attempt to go directly to a page/pagename.html it gives me a page not found error. The address displays correctly, however it gives me a "Bad Request" error and says "Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand." "Apache/1.3.33 Server at subdomain.mydomain.com Port 80"

I am not 100% familar with Apache / Linux but I would recommend you contact your hosting provider to ensure that mod_rewrite is enabled for your sub domain.

I will also move this topic to the support forum in case anyone else has any ideas.
