I am testing out MODx as an interested user. I am working on an older G5 PowerPC. Got MODx installed but some of the TinyMCE buttons don’t work properly.
E.G. the insert link button brings up an empty popup window.
On my son’s Intel Mac or a PC, the link editor comes up with all the various menu options.
So is this a browser issue? My PowerPC browsers (FireFox 3.1, Flock, newest Safari etc.) not working with the JavaScript?
Thanks for any help you can give.
I have an Intel Mac but should that make a difference ? I don’t think so...
I have no similar issues with FF 3.0.5 Mac OS X 10.5.6, nor with Safari 3.2.1.
Isn’t FF 3.1 a beta ?
When you say newest Safari, is that latest stable or bleeding edge ?

Firefox is the only beta browser I have tried MODx. I have tested on Camino, Flock, Opera, Shiira. Safari is the latest stable version.
I have trouble with all the CMSs and TinyMCE features I have tried on my G5. E.G. WordPress is usable via the HTML editor but many of the TinyMCE features are unusable.
So why do all these CMSs work on Intel Mac/Window’s machines? Wouldn’t a native Mac browser be written differently than an Intel Mac browser?

I’m still on a G5 PPC running OS X 10.4 and I haven’t had the issues you’ve described. Safari had one glitch that has been fixed by MODx 0.9.6.3 where you’d get an error "Failed update setting value!" when editing site settings under Tools-->Configuration.
TinyMCE and other javascript stuff does have inconsistent behavior across browsers, though. What OS are you running and which version of Safari? Have you tried Firefox?
Thanks. I am running all the latest browsers with updates. Firefox 3.1 is a beta version but am running Flock built on Firefox 3.0 so don’t think it is having obsolete browsers. My version of Safari is the latest secure version.
I’ve tried everything like turning off block popup windows etc.
Probably need to go to an Intel Mac or Windows to be fully functional.

Like I said, I don’t think this has anything to do with your processor. I’ve done probably done about 30 MODx sites and I’ve always used Safari for my browser and I have only rarely experienced problems... I know the upload feature used to have problems in MODx 0.9.5. Wordpress and Safari aren’t getting along very well right now with its upload feature. I’ve never had any of those problems with either CMS while running Firefox.
