I`ve just installed modx and only played a little around with the templating part, which is great smiley
If I`m going to use modx for my site it has to be able to do the following:

-Comments on news articles goes directly to an auto posted SMF forum topic where the discussion about the news article will happend. On the news article page it shows the 5 latest forum post in that topic.

-Before the news articles are posted on the frontpage they will have to be going thru some sort of queue-system where admins can approve them first, or disapprove and send back to the author with a comment on why it got disapproved.

-It has to be easy to write news articles, so easy that my grandma should be able to write an article and upload images to the article.

Is this possible straight from the box or do I need some extra plugins/modules, do some custom coding etc?

      Front-End
The NewsPublisher can let you publish front end. To delete and edit front end you will need FDM or http://modxcms.com/NewsManager-1.0-0.html
(the last one will need some hacking to work with TinyMCE - WYSIWYG interface)
The blog posts can be set unpublished by default (system) and have a manager user publish them. Then he could send the webuser a message with jot-snippet put
on the webuser’s assigned home/login page (system) if it got approved or not. Some people use Jot for blogs as well.

      Back-End
If your publishers get manager access you can give them roles and do the same thing back end, now here you can send them messages
internal in modx! Modx manager is easy to learn...

      About SMF I dunno...
