Getting the same result of [(global_placeholders)] From within Snippets?

Is there a document somewhere that tells us how to get the same data returned by the [(global_placeholder_tags)] from within a PHP Snippet?

Specifically, I’m looking at this page:
http://modxcms.com/modx-tags.html

And I’m wondering how I can get the value for [(filemanager_path)] or [(rb_base_dir)] from within a Snippet... something like getCachePath();... not sure. But that would be some great information... the API functions listed on http://modxcms.com/api-quick-reference.html don’t cover all the data that is available via the [(global_placeholder_tags)].

Anyone know about this? Thanks!

To be concise, filemanager_path is a "system setting", not a "global placeholder". That technique works for all "system settings".
