Why Modx look not interested to promote Open Source CMS Award 2008 ?

Since modx CMS was awarded the 2007 Most Promising Open Source CMS much work has been done in developing modx Revolution 2.0 (formerly the 0.9.7 branch). The modx Team has been very busy moving modx forward and didn’t campaign for the award as improving modx and living up to our "Most Promising" status took priority.

That being said, our marketing and community building efforts have never been greater with new involvement in a number of networking communities as well as a redesign of the modx website (yet to be revealed). We are working on aiding users with new documentation, better organization and more communications.

Thanks for your personal vote by asking.

      Cheers,

      Jay

Thanks Jay for those insights......personally voted for modx, of course. Felt somewhat sad that it didn’t make the nominations....not sad for modx per se, but sad that there’s probably lots and lots of of web developers/designers out there who are missing out on this great software probably due to lack of knowledge! Am glad that behind the scenes there’s so much going on, including marketing efforts. Like I said somewhere else, can’t wait to see all the new changes! grin

          kongondo,

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that people will miss modx being in the Packt Noms. Personally [this is not necessarily the team POV] I’m kinda torn that we didn’t BUT I am keen to work on the new things happening.

I have a bunch of stuff coming to get the word out and build the development and contributions of modx so I have no fear of missing out. People almost always find modx when they get tired of hacking other CMSs and finding limits of their custom CMS and want smarter ways to work. The new website will bring at least 2 new initiatives for expanding our user base not the least of which are Case Studies and ScreenCasts.

          Thanks as always,

          Jay

The truth is we’re going to live up to our 2007 win! laugh

I think that it’s right that we’re not in it this year. Evolution and Revolution will see smart and capable changes come about. We’re working hard at getting new releases out that will be much more maintainable and provide better platforms for people to build sites with. And we now know for sure where we’re headed.

I think that once we get everything migrated and populated over from the original modx sit to the new on in development, you’ll begin to gain some appreciation for that. Jay’s done an amazing job and moving forward on the social networking front. I fear our cozy little corner of the web is going to start growing a lot in ’09, if not sooner. smiley

Thanks Mr. Thrash! Sir. (Yer $50 is in your Paypal account)

Anyway, we have been very busy and each small gain we make from day to day will help lead smart folks to try modx. Running a large scale OS project well is more than writing code. It is comprised of vision, development, sharing and community. Growing that community is important but we are at a point where modx will become one of the top 3 CMS systems out there.

Thanks for supporting modx and don’t hesitate to share your code with the community and experience with your colleagues.

                Cheers,
