Been using MODx for a couple of years as my CMS for development projects. Finally got around to moving to a new web host - Media Temple and expericing problems getting it to install.

Probably me being very slow but i can’t figure it out.

Is there anyone out there that can help - I’m contacting Media Temple’s support as well.

I can successfully connect the "Server connection and login information"

but when I try to add the "Database information" it fails - both when i try to let it create a d/base itself - returns "failed - could not create database" and then when i create a d/base and add that name - it also fails.

    Thanks, David

Some hosts add a prefix to the DB name you choose on creation so check to make sure that you’re using the "real" one.

MODx works well at Media Temple for us. You’ll need to create the database before connecting, but after that it should be fine. Please post the database name, username and host name that you’re using and I’m sure we can nut it out (if MT support doesn’t first ...).

        Cheers

I’d recommend PM’ing that info to tuatara rather than posting it in a public forum. smiley TMI for potential hackers.

Well it was a problem with the Media Temple control panel. I could set up a database, and I could set up a user - but there was no way to assign permissions to that user for that particular database. Went back there today and an Ajax menu appeared which wasn’t there before. Phew!

Experienced the same thing this morning. For some reason in the Control Panel all new DB user permissions are set to no-access by default.
