Javascript better inside modx or as a file?

I`m using swfobject to embed flash into my website, is it better to

1. Upload the js file to a folder and reference it like normal
2. Add it into modx as a js file and turn caching on

Just wondering if one is faster than the other

1. Reference the file!

Adding it to the database just adds overhead to the siteindex cache file. The browser will cache the file anyway.

Thanks for that, would the same be true of my style sheets, at the moment I have three all in modx
