    So I’ve got a site using Ditto to produce RSS feeds that Feed Burner is handling.  I’ve got an error message which is showing up in the Error logs in my cPanel for my hosting.  Here’s what the error is:

    [Wed Jan 14 14:44:36 2009] [error] [client 72.199.212.233] Cache unable to open file for writing: /home/youthfit/public_html/assets/cache/rss//2552d997701d0d006f31cce7d173cba6, referer: http://youthfitnessmag.com/manager/

    Everything seems to be working fine on the site and on Feedburner...the Video’s info is showing up (title, link, etc.), but not sure why this error message is showing up.

    The site is using MODx 0.9.6.2 (PHP Version 5.2.5 and MySQL Client API version 4.1.22)

    I have the following call in the <head> tags of one of the pages (i.e. http://youthfitnessmag.com/youth-fitness-t.v):

    <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Youth Fitness Magazine T.V. RSS Feed" href="[~199~]" />
    Doc "199" is a RSS page (content type "text/xml"), uncached with the following Ditto call:

    [!Ditto? &startID=`77` &format=`rss` &hideFolders=`1` &depth=`6` &summarize=`20` &total=`20`!]

    the Doc "77" is the parent document acting as a container with all the videos for that subject.

    Any ideas what may be causing that Error message in the cPanel Error logs?

      I think that error comes from manager function.

      You can find ’MODx News’ tab and ’Security Notices’ tab on your manager home.
      Those informations are retrieved from modx site via RSS.
      That error occurs when this RSS cache can not be written on the file system.

        I see...so you think it’s probably not from one of the RSS feeds I set up being set up incorrectly, but possibly one of the Manager "Security Notices" that may have be having a problem? Has anyone else had this problem with their Manager causing errors on the RSS feeds?

          Yes, I think so.
          Probablly directory owner / permission issue or PHP’s safe mode issue, I suppose...

              I wonder if it might be the double slash (//) in the path: cache/rss//2552d997701d0d006f31cce7d173cba6.

              It might also be a permissions issue with the cache/rss directory.

                  I’m afraid I’m clueless on that. I looked, but couldn’t find anything. I’d look first in the files involved in whatever changes you’ve made lately. It’s often a case where a path ending in / is concatenated with another path beginning with /. Sometimes you can search for a double or single quote followed by a slash. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Also, Tkfm might be right about it being a permission issue.
