;D I’ve been working on a traditional MODx website and now want to present the same pages in a PDA version

The difficulty with this i expect is the ability to have two templates applied to a single page of content: (1) NORMAL Template; & (2) PDA Template. ... or does the content have to be duplicated ... or is there another way???

Has anyone created a dual website before, and what advice do you have on how best to acheive this?

    ;D Any suggestions...

I’d think it could be achieved through CSS indeed.

YES ... but i think CSS on it’s own won’t cut it ... more control esp. of content is required. by this i mean ... there will be content rendered into a page which simply won’t work on a PDA or we might not want to make it avaliable on that platform. to acheive these goals we will need to be able to

          (1) define menus items (ie pages) which shouldn’t be displayed
          (2) define content areas which shouldn’t be displayed

i’m thinking a mix of TEMPLATE with CUSTOM VARIABLES used to switch on and off elements ... as well as using CSS as per the link

OK...I am also thinking the modx plugin PHx can also be useful in this case then...

Treat it as a multi-language site and send surfers to the relevant home page based on the user agent.

MODx always comes up trumps... i think this is exactly what i’m after....

                [+phx:if=`[*id*]`:is=`2`:or:is=`3`:then=`{ {Chunk} }`:else=`{ {OtherChunk} }`+]
                [+phx:if=`[+this+]`:is=`[+that+]`:then=`do this`:else=`do that`+]

many thanks ... will have to make an experiment now

                ... wink
