Hello,
Here’s the problem:
I have modxhost template set as the default template. Now in the list of templates, there is also one called the ModXHostWithComments template.
Now leaving it as modxhost, I can go into the vanilla installation of ModX and go into the blog area, and they have a commenting section and everything. Now I go back into manager to switch to ModXHostWithComments template, and when I come back to that page, I get 2 comment areas. Basically it shows up twice with everything such as the comments and the form to enter comments.
Attached is a zoomed out screenshot of what I am looking at.
Question: Why is this happening? What is the point of the ModXHostWithComments template if ModXHost already has the comment code in it.
-- Edit--
Next problem: I go into resources to check the template code for both of the templates. For the ModXHost, this doesn’t mention anything about comments in the template. However in the ModXHostWithComments template, this does have a jot code for comments.
I then checked the document editor for two different pages, one that uses ModXHost and one that uses ModXHostWithComments, and found "{{Comments}}" always beneath the the blog content. I said to myself "Aha!" but now the problem is, why is ModX automatically adding a "{{comment}}" whenever I use the "add blog entry" page to add a blog entry, and how and where?
Any help appreciated.
Its the newspublisher snippet that does ---> &footertpl=`Comments`
This is chunk with a jot call.
Ok, so... so how does it know when to put in {{comments}} in the footer when it’s in the blog section? Because both the homepage and the blog place both have the same template, but in the blog place it always has a {{comments}} while the homepage and pretty much every other page doesn’t have it.
If the doc is created by newspublisher you should see it in the content of that doc. so you have it in your blog
doc, and when you assign the blog doc to this template (which has the call to jot as well) you see 2 forms.
Ah, right that makes sense.
