Okay, I couldn’t think of a meaningful title to explain this.
Here’s what I want to do. I need to set up a template for book reviews, with fields for title, author, ISBN, content, reviewer, etc, etc. This is all straightforward enough with TVs and/or ManagerManager.
However, I also need the template to handle ’comparative reviews’, that is reviews of more than one book in a single review. There is no particular limit on the number of books that can be included in each particular comparative review.
I have no idea how to handle this in MODx. If I were building a reviews website from scratch, I would make one database table for the ’meta’ (title, author(s), ISBN, etc, etc) and another for the content of the review (the text, reviewer and so on).
But how can I do it in MODx? Any ideas?
I’m running MODx Evolution (0.9.6.1, although I’ll upgrade to 0.9.6.3 when available).
I don’t think so, unless I’m misunderstanding tvExplorer (which I might be). What I’m trying to do is to match multiple records (the meta information about a book) with a single MODx document.
The nearest thing I can think of is creating one set of MODx documents (in a folder called ’meta’, for example) that contained the book titles, authors and all that info, then another set of MODx documents containing the text of the review, the reviewer and so on, but this seems really unwieldy, particularly for whoever had to enter the info in.
Ditto tagging can be done by doc fields (e.g longtitle - &tagData=`longtitle`) if you are planning to use different templates.
But I have only used this for docs in the same folder...
//But you can have multiple ditto calls on same page by giving each ditto an ID.
Manager users.
How would the user enter the book meta easily? (All my users are non-expert.)
I’m starting to think this will require either a non-standard interface or that I’ll just cut the idea and make them put it all in a rich text field.
