need to have richtext newspublisher for a modx newbie

I’m new to modx 0.9.6.1 and have been trying to figure out how to use newspublisher snippet to create new blog postings with a rich editing environment (tinymce or something similar). I’ve seen the posts on http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Creating_a_Blog_like_in_the_Default_Content and http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Basic_Blog which show how to have a blog but don’t deal with the rich edit end user experience for adding blog posts. The newspublisher params are at http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/NewsPublisher can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks ahead of time for any ideas!

If I were you (and I was in your shoes about 4 weeks ago), I’d try to get the TinyMCE editor up and running on a completely vanilla STATIC site. See if you can get a form up and running that implements the editor controls that you want. That will get you familiar with its configurations and installation. Once you’ve got that working, then try to implement it into MODx. I’m not super-familiar with MODx’s blogging internals, but I know that if I can get it working on a static site, then the act of porting it over isn’t so traumatic.

I wasn’t able to get much of anything to work with NewsPublisher so I switched to NewsEditor. It’s much better but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get an RTE to work with it either. I created a TV just like the one mentioned above and by default NewsEditor is supposed to set the summary and content fields to be rich text but it’s not working and no one’s been able to tell me why yet, nor have I figured it out (obviously).

NewsPublisher
1. use the &rtcontent=`tvblogContent` parameter (and &footertpl to bring comments chunk)
2. have the tv named blogContent for richtext ---> http://modxcms.com/blog-publish.html
3. Replace the textarea with its value [+content+] to simple [*blogContent*]
4. Now NewsPublisher works just like that!

NewsEditor

Notice &aliastitle and &clearcache produces the alias from page title instead of a long timestring.

Now my problem is that the Dyn snippet Im calling in the blogContent tv is grabing the content field - and by doing this
also puts the jotchunk in the RTE. So I have to erase it and kill the loop... Don’t want to add the chunk manually or have it
for all documents and it feels wrong to create a new template just to solve this... So will study NewsPublisher dear diary...

Otherways I would have made me a "templatewithcomments" like the demo page. So I took away &footertpl parameter from newseditor.

to remove the chunk(s) from appearing in the rte. I tried to do it with css in the tinymce but that wasnt a good idea for every time when edited and saved a new pair of header and footer were added to the article. So could you help me with this tv option?

I’ve a blog content like this: {{blogHeader}} - content - {{comments}}, all stored in the blog article page.
Now when trying to edit the blog content (again) with newsEditor {{blogHeader}} and {{comments}} also appear in the rte editing area. And this is not fine.

What I need is a thing like "removeChunk" or similar for the rte display and output (ideally within the tv that calls the rte ((&rtcontent=...)).

There is no parameter for this. You will need to have additional TV’s [AFAIK]

The problem is that the dyn snippet or getfield go get *content* to the RTE and there are your chunks...
So maybe changing them to remove chunk in the code and look how ditto does it?
