Hello, I just want to upload a few images and files manually without doing it with the cms, where are the documents, like the pages and images, and stylesheets getting stored in my filesystem when I edit and create them in the cms? I can’t find them by searching through my ftp directory.

You can put them wherever you want. As long as you have the paths right in your template you are golden. By default the images get uploaded to the assets/images/ folder and if you install the demo site the files are all in /assets/templates/modxhost/

The basic concept is to use whatever is good for you. grin

So where do the pages you create go? I created a basic page, but I can’t find it on the filesystem when I ftp in to my site. Also I created a template but I can’t find it in the templates directory on my filesystem.

The short answer is that MODx documents are stored in the MODx database rather than as files.

See the site in my sig. below for more info. on how MODx works.

The only thing stored in your files will be auxiliary files, such as .css files, images and .js files. Complex snippets, modules and plugins also usually have included .php files in their respective assets/ folders. Document content and templates, in fact everything you enter in the forms in the Manager (TVs, chunks, etc) are in the database.
