    Hi

    I just installed Modx and it seems very nice so far. I am playing with standard template, replacing text on different buttons and pages, to experiment. What if I decide that I want to use the whole root tree as my main website? How do I do that? Where do I define that the whole current side created in modx, should be applied to my index.html in my root directory?

    Thanks for your time

      I’m not sure I understand your question, but I think that if you do two things, you might get an idea of how to do what you want.

      First, go to Tools | Configuration | Site Start and set the site start to the ID of the page you want as your home page (the IDs are in parentheses next to the names in the document tree at the left).

      Next, put a Wayfinder call in your template (if there isn’t one there already).

      [[Wayfinder? &startId=`0`]]

      Instead of 0 you might want to set startId to the site start page.

      Wayfinder will present a menu based on the document tree and when you move things around in the tree (which you can do by clicking on the little folder image and setting their parent), they will automatically move in the menu. Newly created documents will also show automatically in the menu if they are published and set to show in menus.

      Hope this helps.

        I’m not sure what you’re asking either, but maybe you want to change which page is used as the index? In other words, when you visit www.yourdomain.com, you can control which page loads as your default page. Log into the manager and then go here:

        Tools --> Configuration --> Site

        On the Site tab, look about7 items down for the Site Start... you put a number in there. Use the number that’s in parentheses on your document tree, e.g. "Some Page about Dogs (37)" -- then you’d put 37 into the site start field.

        Don’t know if that’s what you were looking for...
