I set up a website with an old version of modx Revolution a few years ago. Unfortunately, it was never maintained and now I can't log into the manager anymore. I get an 500 server error when I try to access the manager.
How can I best go about upgrading to the newest version? I hope you can give me some helpful steps I need to take to make this go as smoothly as possible.

Do you know whether the site is MODX Evolution or MODX Revolution?
Has the server been updated to PHP 7? If so, you might get the site working by changing back to PHP 5.
