Hello MODX Community and Support,
I would like to use this kind of forum-software
which you use here at
forums.modx.com -
is your forum based on a MODX-add-on forum-software or on another software product?
I'd like to get it!

It's called Discuss but it is no longer supported.

I wouldn't call the Forum (at least this one, which I believe is a modified version of Discuss) stable. It's fairly common for me to get logged off and to see no replies listed. If I then click on "no unread replies," after a long wait (up to 30 seconds) I usually see some replies I haven't read.
Posting screen shots didn't work for a long time. I don't know if that's been fixed or not. In addition, the forum search doesn't work very well at all.
TBH, I think you might be better off with one of the Forums listed here:
https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/best-forum-software#gref. Vanilla is quite popular and you might be able to style it to look like part of your MODX site.

Yeah it's not stable and I believe the plan is actually to migrate away from discuss over the coming months, as it's too much of a mess to maintain. These forums will be archived though for legacy.
@Bob, uploading images now works again

I still feel a proper site with historical data is so critical. I feel that will be a real loss.
Many pages going back years here are still useful. Will a new system keep all the data and allow people to search/connect information? I have my doubts
Edit I mean the old one will be archived, but will the new system build a new deep database of knowledge? If its transitory, that simply won't work.
The community could theoretically fill in the gap but it doesn't seem wise to me
