Display 'error' message in dialog

When performing an action other than 'update', e.g. when 'removing' a row, I cannot see where to pass the error message from PHP to JS, in order to trigger a dialog pop-up.

Has anyone managed to pass an error message back to JS successfully (in the context of MIGXdb)?
