    Requirements for page:
    1) is published
    2) NOT shown in menu
    3) require ALL users to type a password to see the page -- ideally going to the page throws a popup requesting the password, typing password into the popup shows the page, if necessary an ID is okay too

    I was thinking of:

    1) can I use .htaccess or the nginx equivalent?? Or does modxcloud make this not possible to do??

    2) can I use a template variable and check the person typed in the right value??

I don't want to use the Login extra if possible, we need something simpler for extremely NON-technical people, some of whom barely know how to use a browser. smiley

    Thank you, Tom

PageLocker looks like what you need

      https://modx.com/extras/package/pagelocker

Doing it by htaccess is ok too

I don't think finally its very sensible to go around login, but what is your real need? If its just a login box that's not complicated.

Not shown in menus is a value for the resource (page), its a checkbox/flag that can be ticked.

I already found PageLocker, the fewer plugins to worry about maintenance or obsolescence, the better. smiley

The fewer the pages involved the better. smiley

I know about not shown in menus, I've used MODx since 2012.

        Thank you, Tom

Ok then htaccess is the way to go I guess, maybe use a custom script...

I don't think pagelocker has been updated for over 5 years so there's not much maintenance to worry about there, it works well though.
