Roadmap to upgrade from 2.4.2 to 2.6.5

I am thinking about upgrading my site from 2.4.2 to 2.6.5 to heed the security alert. Is there a roadmap to do this? Has anyone done this and can you share gotchas, issues, best step by step approach?

Not much to it. Download and install the UpgradeMODX extra.

Then use it to upgrade to 2.5.0, 2.6.0, and then 2.6.5.

I usually check after each upgrade to make sure I can edit and save a resource or an element.

How do I install an extra? Is there a doc for that ... on your site purchance?

I am going thru your upgrade notes on your site. Sorry for the spam. I am not sure why I click on your UpgradeModx and I get the login page but ..... let me back up first.

I am trying to use your extra. Every time I click on the button, I get kicked out - to my login screen. Is this a permission's thing? I looked at that and added resource groups, no difference? What should I change?

One more note worthy piece of info with the extra:

it calls https://myserver:80/upgrade.php

the resource has a friendly url set up: upgrade-modx.html

Does apache not know how to handle the upgrade.php url? I don't know?

Are you running upgrade.php in a code editor? That would explain the port number in the URL and the problem. When you switch to a different port, the session is lost and you're no longer logged in. If you're running it in MODX, it should just forward you to the script without changing the port number, unless you have something unusual in .htaccess.
