IS there a setting or an extra that will prevent Modx from using the same file name and url when I duplcate a document or even create a new document?
I'm sure there used to be some such option but I can't find anything in the system settings.
Thanks

Go to System (gear icon) -> System Settings.
Put duplicate in the search filter box at the upper right of the grid and press enter.
You should see allow_duplicate_alias and global_duplicate_uri_check.

Bob,
yeah one of the first things I did. No luck.
The
Check for Duplicate URIs Across All Contexts global_duplicate_uri_check
is there but not the other one.
I'm on MODX Revolution 2.6.5-pl

I have both settings in 2.6.5-pl. You might try creating it with a "Type" of Yes/No and setting the value to 1.

OK, that worked,
but I take it you meant set the value to No and not 1, 'cos you can't actually set it to 1 if you chose a Type of Yes/No.

I meant to set it to Yes, but putting 1 in the value field works too (and is quicker to type), since that's what's stored in the DB.
