    Hi guys,

I just setup a windows 2003 server with php 5 and mysql. Configuration appears to be fine.
When I run the installer it all goes fine up until the point when you enter in your DB host and connection details. When I click the links:

Click here to test your server connection and get the available collations
Click here to create your database or to test the selection of your database

NOTHING at all happens. I have opened up firebug to see if there is some sort of problem with JS?
I obviously can’t contine with the install as the NEXT button tells me to test my connection...

    Any ideas?

Using firebug I can see that there is an ajaz call to:

connection.collation.php, but the return is a 500 internal error.

I went for the default install of MySQL, do I need to do anything else to enable it to work?

It might be worthwhile trying to install phpmyadmin to make sure you can connect to the database server ok.

This is weird, I had managed to connect to the DB server from a test page, now when I run code to connect it will not work...
should i at least not get an error back that the connection failed, rather than a 500 internal server error?

Almost there, After running IISRESET the connection issues has gone away.
I ran the installer but it crashed out with:

            Cannot open file (../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php)

I gave NETWORK SERVICE modify control of the above, that usually works with permission issues on windows?
Error is still there however, is PHP user called something different now?

gave EVERYONE modifiy control over the cache, seems to have fixed the problem and got the darn thing installed wink
Probably not a good idea to let everyone modify this folder?

If its a test server then that will be fine but if it is a server on the Internet it would be best to fix it.

On our hosting servers the cache folder NTFS perms are

                SERVERNAME\IIS_WPG - modify
                Administrators -Full Control
                System - Full Control
Domainname web user in the case of onesmarthost.co.uk --- servername\onesmarthost.co_web Modify
